This book, published in conjunction with the Carte grise à Lani Maestro exhibition, bears witness to the meeting of two artistic practices which, though they may differ formally, remain strangely connected on the philosophical plane. In the work of Shimabuku, photography acts as a marker of the traces of its passage, in a form somewhere between installation and performance. Lani Maestro's commentary on the work of Shimabuku provides us with a very personal glimpse of her artistic concerns.
