This special edition of Jeune photographie was divided into two exhibitions, the first bringing together the works of artists who made an impact in previous editions of Jeune photographie, and the second presenting new faces in young photography. Observing the work of the artists, the authors discuss the break between the image as object and the image as principle. It’s as though the image had a singular essence that has more to do with thought than the domain of material contingencies… as though photography, as of the moment it falls under the gaze, always deviates towards an elsewhere, always eludes… and is somehow not as pure as we imagined. The publication includes reproductions of one work from each artist.
