With L'impasse d'A.S., André Martin once again takes on the documentary genre. This time, a private detective tracks an artist named A.S - a writer, rock singer, prostitute and porno actor with AIDS - through the streets of London. Simultaneously, A.S. puts together a second photo dossier retracing the chase through the city, and juxtaposes it with the pictures taken by the private detective. In this way, two photographic points of view are confronted, that of the professional investigator and that of the artist. In a parallel text, we meet André Motrin, the narrator of Chroniques de l'Express. L'impasse d'A.S. is both a ''true-false'' documentary on several private and urban sites and a reflection on the art world, particularly its underground and shadier side.
