In Cimetières : la rage muette, Denise Desautels' poetic prose tackles issues of memory, abandonment, the gaze and death. These texts, which at times resemble short narratives, speak to us, on the one hand, of the strange relations we all maintain with a particular anguish, but also, and perhaps even more, of our desire to grasp the soul. In Monique Bertrand's small black and white still lifes we find, among other things, the corpses of insects with transparent wings, nails wrapped in string, miniature mummies, a shrew, a fake funeral pyre, bits of cloth, string... Links, correspondences, affinities arise between the writer and the artist to create a work steeped in the finite nature of all things.
